First Christmas present to me

After having had two exams this weekend (Financial Management on Saturday and Econometrics on Sunday), I thought I deserved something. And well, to my surprise I found that all the stores are having the first big autumn sale, at the same time as stores are filling up with Christmas presents. I went to Biotherm cause I had been wanting to buy their AquaSource line for some time now, and I found that they had a very worthy special Christmas package! :) Great products, worth every penny. From my point of view, there's no other moisturizer in the market which such a great scent and which works so perfectly at the same time.

CityU banquet & me on the newspaper!

Last week the annual banquet dinner of City University of Hong Kong was held. I was lucky to be invited by my department (Economics and Finance), because people kill to get the chance to go!

It was a really good night, the best one so far this semester in Hong Kong.

Next morning I found myself in the national newspaper... They chose a picture of myself and the president of the university to illustrate the event.

If I must say, what made the difference in the make-up was the foundation (really good for my skin!!), and what I would have changed is the loose-powder. I'm actually working on getting a better one now!

FREE!

Some weeks ago I started reading Chris Anderson's new book : Free. I found out about the book when flying with British Airways from Barcelona to London. The book was featured in BA's magazine, Business Life. I thought I'd buy it, not only because I liked the author, but because some weeks previously John and I had been thinking about the free thingy for a business we have in mind.

Last year I studied Anderson's theory on the long tail, where he argued that the future of business is selling less of more. I thought it was a really interesting approach to business.
With this new book I believe Anderson has got it right again. The future of business is nothing more than... free.

I know it may sound hard to believe, after all we all have this idea in mind that there's no such thing as a free meal. However, there is.
Anderson gives wonderful examples of it in his book, most of which are possible because we live in the information age, with IT making free possible.

Today, I was reading Catalan newspaper La Vanguardia, just to find myself amazed at a headline, which read something like: A store opens in Barcelona with products for free. In fact, the news itself is a video, and I damned enjoyed watching it! :D The store is the first one of a kind in Europe, featuring products that have been introduced in the market this same year only. Customers must pay 5 euro for half a year to become a member and be free to go into the shop and get three different items every two weeks. Totally worth it I must say.

Can't wait to go back to Barcelona!
